School Hat statute of Miina Härma Gümnaasium

The colours of the Miina Härma Gümnaasiumi school hat (tekkel) are based on the school’s symbolics: dark blue and silver. The school logo is embroidered on the base of the hat. In collaboration with the School Management Team, the Parent Advisory Board, the alumni and the Student Council, the MHG tekkel was created to celebrate the 100th graduation year.

The school hat’s purpose is to create a sense of belonging and emphasise one’s identity.

All MHG students, alumni and teaching staff have the right to wear the school hat. After graduation, the school hat remains with the graduate. It is allowed to wear the school hat with a different MHG logo.

Regulations for wearing the school hat:

  • The MHG school hat is worn with respect.
  • The school hat is kept as clean and as original as possible.
  • When wearing the school hat, the visor is always straight.
  • No embellishments or objects irrelevant to the MHG (summer badges, sunglasses, etc.) shall be worn on the school hat.
  • The school hat will be worn both inside and outside the school premises.
  • When singing the anthem of the Republic of Estonia, the school hat is taken off the head.

  • 1 September (Wisdom Day)
  • 14 October (school birthday)
  • 9 February (Miina Härma’s birthday)
  • Republic of Estonia anniversary ceremonies in February
  • 14 March (Estonian Mother Tongue Day)
  • 4 June (Estonian Flag Day)
  • Last school bell and graduation ceremonies
  • other school representative events

On the school hat days, school family members wear formal attire (preferably a combination of blue and black with white or clothing with the school emblem) and a school hat.
